We wish to raise £1m to help restore sight in those suffering from cataracts

  • Cataract is the world’s leading cause of blindness. Around 20 million people are blind as a result
  • Cataracts cannot be prevented but they can be treated simply and cheaply

    The problem
  • Cataracts are caused by age-related cloudiness of the lens
  • Although rare, cataracts can occur in children
  • Children may also have to miss out on school, to act as carers for grandparents with cataracts

    Treatment
A 20 minute operation costs £3-30 for adults or £27 for children

We work with charities already in the field [such as Sight Savers International - SSI] to carry out the operations - we do NOT have any admin costs and we do not allow charites we work with to use our grants on admin or marketing - Only operations.
Below is an example of our work via SSI; thank you for your help
